Short Message Service (SMS) is a service available on most digital mobile phones that permits the sending of short messages containing up to 160 characters (also known as text messages, or more colloquially SMSes, texts or even txts) between mobile phones, other handheld devices and even landline telephones.
SMS-technology is supported only by GSM cell networks irrespective of the connection type. SMS-messages service is available for the users of prepaid SIM-cards which have sufficient funds to complete sending of one SMS. If the funds of SIM account have been exhausted the SMS-service will be blocked until the next recharging (refilling or adding funds). SMS-messages will be delivered to your phone even when it is turned of. You can read them after you turn your phone on: a message is stored in the SMS-center during 3 days. You don’t have to read the message immediately after its delivery: all cell phones store up to 10-15 messages which you can read at any available time.
